On November 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. COL time, both Bugambiles and Nísperos Solar Park projects successfully achieved their connection to the power grid.
Located in Baranoa, Atlántico, the projects are owned by CTG LatAm, the regional subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG). Bugambiles and Nísperos Solar Parks have an installed capacity of 9.9 MW and 19.9 MW respectively. This successful connection marks an important milestone: CTG LatAm has become the first company in Colombia to build and connect two photovoltaic projects of this scale to the grid within the same year and under a single equity investment.
During construction, CTG LatAm not only collaborated with Chinese contractors, equipment, and technologies, but also, actively integrated into the local market, establishing for the first-time a partnership with Latin American contractors for the construction of renewable energy projects. The entire process strictly complied with Colombian regulatory requirements for grid connection and energy standards. It also received strong support from the Chinese Embassy in Colombia, the Baranoa Mayor’s Office, Air-E as grid operator, and other relevant authorities which significantly contributed to the smooth progress of the project.
Once in operation, the Bugambiles and Nísperos Solar Parks will join CTG LatAm’s portfolio alongside the Baranoa I Solar Park. Together, they will generate approximately 110,000 MWh of renewable energy annually—enough to meet the annual electricity consumption of about 55,000 Colombian households. Additionally, they are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 77,000 tons per year. Both projects have also had a positive impact on local employment and well-being, reinforcing CTG LatAm’s long-term commitment to Colombia’s renewable energy sector.
